Bulimia Nervosa

Bulimia Nervosa

Bulimia Nervosa is a serious psychological eating disorder that can be life-threatening if left untreated. It is characterized by eating a large amount of food within a short period of time without any sense of control and then trying to compensate by compulsive exercising, fasting, or purging which involves vomiting or using laxatives or diuretics. People with bulimia are compulsively obsessed with their weight and they are consumed by the thought of gaining weight and wanting to lose weight. They have an unrealistic body image and are often intensively self-critical. However, people with bulimia mostly have a normal body mass index (BMI) or sometimes, even overweight, which can make bulimia hard to notice and diagnose.
