Eyestrain

Eyestrain

Also known as asthenopia, eye strain is a common condition of the eye that describes a group of symptoms that occur through non-specific symptoms such as fatigue, pain in or around the eyes, blurred vision, headache, and occasional double vision. Eyestrain mostly occurs after intense use of the eyes (prolonged use of the muscles that control the eye movements and the pupils), such as long distance driving, reading, or extended staring at computer screens and other digital devices.

As much as annoying and uncomfortable eye strain can be, it is, fortunately, temporary and not usually serious and does not lead to any eye damage. However, in some cases, signs and symptoms of eyestrain can indicate an underlying condition that needs treatment.
