Intestinal worm infection is an infection in which a parasite infects the gastrointestinal tract of humans. Intestinal worms or intestinal parasitic infection in the human stomach can be of several types but the most common are flatworms including tapeworms and flukes and roundworms which cause ascariasis, pinworm, and hookworm infection. People of all ages can get this infection but it is most common among children. Common causes of the existence of intestinal worms are contaminated water, unhygienic conditions, inadequate sanitation and contaminated food
 
Chronic symptoms of intestinal worm infections are:
1. Blood or pus in your stool
2. Frequent vomiting
3. Elevated body temperature
4. Fatigue and dehydration
 
Other symptoms of intestinal worm infections are:
1. Abdominal pain
2. Gas
3. Bloating
4. Diarrhoea
5. Nausea and vomiting
6. Itching around the rectum
7. Abnormal weight loss
 
Do’s 
  • Eat fibre-rich foods. Mulberries are especially known to fight intestinal worms.
  • Wash hands properly after using the toilet
  • Wash hands before and after eating food
  • Wash your hands after touching pet animals
  • Improve sanitation education of children
  • Consult a doctor
  • Keep your surroundings, especially toilets and kitchen clean
Don’ts
  • Do not eat uncovered food
  • Do not drink contaminated water. Carry your water bottle wherever you go. 
  • Do not eat food without washing hands with soap
  • Do not take any medications before consulting the doctor
